Hormone and Menopause Care

Evidence-based psychiatric and hormonal care for mood, focus, and wellbeing across perimenopause, menopause, PMDD, and other hormonal transitions.

When everything is changing—and no one seems to notice.

You used to recognize yourself. Now it’s like living in fog: irritability out of nowhere, brain fog, anxiety that doesn’t make sense, nights of broken sleep. You tell a doctor, and they say it’s just hormones, and part of getting older. You mention the mood swings, the panic, the grief that feels chemical, and they nod like it’s cosmetic—like you should just hydrate and wait it out.

At OutPsych, we know that hormonal change can unravel your sense of self—and that it’s not in your head.

We specialize in psychiatric and hormonal care for people navigating perimenopause, menopause, PMDD, and other hormone-related mood and attention shifts. You don’t have to white-knuckle your way through this. There are options.

What Hormone Care

Means at OutPsych

We treat the intersection of hormones, mood, and cognition with both precision and compassion. Our clinicians understand how estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone influence neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine—and how those changes can show up as depression, anxiety, brain fog, or ADHD-like symptoms.

For some, hormone therapy (HRT) can be life-changing; for others, targeted psychiatric medication or a combination approach works best. We’ll help you decide what’s right for you—reviewing your health history, symptoms, and goals in depth. Care is always individualized and paced according to what feels sustainable.

We also recognize how gender and identity intersect with hormonal care. No matter where on the gender spectrum you identify, our approach is affirming, respectful, and grounded in current research. For those already on gender-affirming hormones, we can coordinate care to address mood or attention changes that arise with dosing or transition.

Our providers offer evaluation and treatment for:

  • Perimenopausal and menopausal mood symptoms

  • PMDD and cyclical mood disorders

  • ADHD symptoms affected by hormonal changes

  • Depression, anxiety, and insomnia

  • Emotional or cognitive changes related to HRT

What to Expect

1. Comprehensive Evaluation (75–90 minutes)
We’ll review your medical, psychiatric, and hormonal history in detail—mapping symptoms to your cycle or transition stage. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of what’s happening and why.

2. Personalized Treatment Plan
Your plan may include hormone therapy, psychiatric medication, or both, along with evidence-based lifestyle and nervous system supports. We’ll discuss the risks, benefits, and research behind each option so you can make informed choices.

3. Ongoing Care
Follow-up visits (25–50 minutes) are used to monitor symptoms, lab results, and overall wellbeing. We fine-tune treatment as your body adjusts and ensure that you continue to feel like yourself—sometimes for the first time in years.
